MACKAY, HAROLD “ALLAN” - It is with deep sadness the family of Allan MacKay of Saint John, announces his passing on Thursday January 8, 2015 at home surrounded by his family, after a lengthy illness with COPD. Born in Bathurst, NB in 1944, Allan was the son of the late Harold and Arline (Palmer) MacKay. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved his children and grandchildren dearly. Left to mourn are his wife Carol (Stilwell) MacKay of 46 years, daughter Tara (David) Safford, son Tim (Jordanna), grandchildren Erin, Ethan, Madison and Macie; brother Jack (Emma) MacKay of Bathurst. Allan graduated from Bathurst High School in 1963 and then Accountancy from NBCC in Moncton. He retired from NB Power, Point Lepreau in 2003. He belonged to various bowling teams and coached for ESJ Minor basketball and East Suburban Little League. He was a former President of Fredericton Jaycee’s and National Vice President for Canada Jaycee’s Atlantic Region. He attained Jaycee’s highest award a “Senatorship” in 1975.
Following cremation, visitation will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) on Sunday January 11, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Monday January 12, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
