MEDFORD, EYRE HESRON "DIRK" - Eyre "Dirk" Medford born in Saint Vincent, West Indies on June 4, 1935 to the late Eyre and Leatha (Banfield) Medford. Died in his home on January 11, 2015 in the loving arms of his wife and best friend of 59 years, Bertha Joyce (Button) Medford. He will be missed by his children Bruce (Diane), Wendy (Gary), James (Claudia), Darlene “Leatha” (Eric), Vivian Lee and Kelly (Hank); grandchildren Pheobe, Daniel, Troy, Allan, Ericka, Vanessa, Sean, Samantha, Sarah, Lynzie, Peter, Conrad, Madison, Sandy, Melissa; great-grandchildren Austin, Telania, Makayla, Nicolas, Adrien, Alyssa, Nadia, Ivy, Amber, Vivian, Benjamin, Ashton, Brooklyn, Kaileigh, Kaia, Tashina and great-great-granddaughter Emma. He is also survived by brother Cardinal; sisters Telania, Peggy and Inathe; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. Eyre "Dirk" worked at the Dry Dock from 1974 – 1997. When he retired he was a member of the Nerepis Baptist Church.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Tuesday, January 13, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from the Nerepis Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in Lorneville Community Cemetery in the spring.
