Alan Roy Perry - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Alan, of Falmouth, on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at the Halifax Infirmary, Q.E. II, at the age of 80. He left this world surrounded by love and family. Born on December 19, 1934, in London, England, he was the son of late Philip Thomas and Violet (Wilcox) Perry. Being born just 100 yards from Bow Church, he was proud to say he was a true Cockney. He was a member of the RAF Air-Sea Rescue station at Fishguard, Wales from 1953 to 1958. In 1963 he immigrated to Canada with his wife Maureen. He was employed in various positions by Simmons Mattress Canada, retiring as sales manager after 38 years. In 1993, he helped establish a furniture reupholstery/restoration business with his wife, but due to health issues, he stepped back and handed the reins over to his son, Stephen. He loved reading, solving crosswords, watching hockey and Coronation Street on TV. He was survived by his wife of 53 years, Maureen (Atkins). He was a dedicated family man and loving father to Sharon (Andy) Daniels, Windsor Forks; Stephen (Rose), Windsor; and proud granddad to Ryan and Christopher Daniels. He is also survived by his sisters, Gwen (Dave) Greenhalgh, England; Barbara Kaiser, Maine; Betty (Colin) Smillie and Rena (Ron) Beer, England; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces/nephews, and great grandnieces/nephews. Cremation has taken place under the care of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0. There will be no visitation by request. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. No flowers by request. Donations in memory of Alan may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia Kidney Foundation or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (Atlantic Canada Region).
