­NEW GLASGOW – Donna Marie MacIvor, age 73.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Donna on January 11, 2015 with her family at her side.
She was born in New Glasgow on December 31, 1941. Donna was a loving wife to her husband and best friend Jim MacIvor of 51 wonderful and memory filled years. Donna dedicated her entire life to her love of family and neighbours who always held a special place in her heart. Donna was an avid reader, loved to travel and feed the neighbourhood wildlife. Donna will be sadly missed by her husband, sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and all of her extended family members, special cousins and friends, all of whom she loved so dearly.
She is survived by her husband, Jim MacIvor; sons: Jonathan (Allison) MacIvor; David (Lynn) MacIvor; grandchildren: Danielle, Andrew, Andrea, Sophie and Jaxon MacIvor; in-laws: Judy and Jim Martin.
She was predeceased by her father Donald Fitzgerald, grandparents, Dan and Bess Fitzgerald, aunt and uncle, Arabelle and Lee Dartt, granddaughter, Miranda MacIvor.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Family flowers only please. Donations in her memory may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit or the Pictou County S.P.C.A.
