Helen Marie Maloney (Neville) 68, of Gales Ferry, Connecticut and St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, passed away on Jan. 11, 2015, after succumbing to a 25 year-long fight with multiple illnesses. She was born on July 4, 1946, in St. John's, to parents Thomas and Ellen (Everard) Neville, on Topsail Road. She was the eldest daughter in a family with five siblings including four brothers, Harry (deceased), Edward, John, Dermot, and a sister, Rose (Dillon). She was married to William Joseph Maloney, a resident of Gales Ferry, Connecticut on March 23, 1968, in St. John's. She resided in Cailfornia, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Connecticut. She worked for the federal government and retired as an office manager for a real estate appraisal company. She is survived by her spouse, William; her mother-in-law, Eileen Casella (McCarthy) of Albany, N.Y.; her two children, a son, Bryan Maloney married to Maria of O'Fallon, Ill.; and a daughter, Deborah Cabrera married to Carlos of Mystic; grandchildren, Daniil, Emma, Ethan, and Sacha; and many nieces and nephews in St. John's.
Her remains will be returned to St. John's, as were her wishes. At this time, there is no scheduled date for a service. Donations to Smilow Cancer Center, Lawrence + Memorial Cancer Center, Huntsman Cancer Center, are requested in lieu of flowers. A heartfelt special thank you to the teams at Smilow Cancer Center and L + M Cancer Center who assisted Helen over the many years.
