THORBURN – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald David “Mutt” MacDonald of Thorburn in his 67th year.
Born on September 18th, 1947 in New Glasgow, he was a son of Anna (Ryan) MacDonald, Thorburn and the late John MacDonald.
Gerald operated his well drilling business from his home in Thorburn for 38 years. He was an active member of the Nova Scotia Ground Water Association and a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Thorburn. Gerald will be remembered for his quick wit, his opinion and his colorful language.
He is survived by his wife Ann (Morton) MacDonald, son Darrell (Audrey); two grandsons Branden and Aaren MacDonald; brothers: Michael (Judy), Vancouver; Damian, Thorburn; Gregory (Margie) Plymouth; sister Ellen (Bob) Peters, Lismore; brother-in-law Jackie (Ann) Morton, Ontario; sister-in-law Brenda (Gerard) Currie, Trenton; many nieces and nephews.
Gerald was predeceased by an infant son Mark and son Paul.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday in St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Thorburn with Father Colin MacKinnon officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.
