BROWN-THEAL, HILDA - 1921 - 2015 - It is with a sense of sadness and relief that we announce the passing of Hilda Alison Brown-Theal, age 93 on Friday, January 16th, at Protem in Moncton, NB. Sadness for what she meant to her family and friends. Relief for the years she spent living with Alzheimer’s that gradually claimed her warm personality. Born on November 18th, 1921, in Belledune, NB, she was the youngest daughter of the late Thomas Harold Chalmers and Bertha Maude Shampier. Hilda was a graduate of Success Business College and worked for Robin Hood Mills Ltd. as a secretary before becoming a full time mother. She was a member of St. John’s United Church, past member of I.O.D.E. and member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she held many offices. Her favorite pastime was playing bridge and travelling. Hilda will be sadly missed by her three children; Sharon (Douglas) French of Moncton, NB, Gary (Mona) Brown of Riverview, NB and Katheryn (Mark) McGrath of Bedford, NS; seven grandchildren, David French, Alana McCready, Michael Brown, Brittney Poole, Matthew McGrath, Lindsay Sutherland, Colin Horodeski; three great-grandchildren, Kayla McCready, Maverick Brown, Ansen Sutherland and by several nieces and nephews. Hilda was predeceased by her first husband of 35 years, Earl Stanley Brown, brother Burton Chalmers, sisters Doris Browne and Marjorie Schneider. She is survived by her sister Connie Archibald of Fredericton, NB and her second husband of 24 years, George Theal.
Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation on Tuesday, January 20th from 2:00 to 4:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 21st at 11:00am with reception to follow. The Rev. Aaron Billard will be officiating. Interment will be in the Boundary Creek Baptist Cemetery in the spring. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated or to the charity of one’s choice.
