Passed peacefully away on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Pentecostal Senior Citizens Home, Clarke's Beach, Robert (Bobby) Joseph Chafe in his 88th year formerly of Edinburgh St., St. John's. He was employed as a grave digger with the R. C. Episcopal Corporation for over 40 years. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Jeanette (Newhook) Chafe, his brother William, and his sisters Mabel Ray, Ena Moore, Louise Martinez-Dicks and his niece Ann Moore Crisman. Leaving to mourn his nephews Colin Dicks, Ross Dicks (Allison Richards) (Ottawa), David Chafe, (Thompson, MB.), Frank (Cheryl) Martinez (Winnipeg, MB), Pauline (Don) Reid, Hopeall, Helen Martinez, PBVM, Clarice (Allan) Ruby, Geneva Engle (Orange Park, FL), Lillian Power, John Ray (Lorraine), Stafford, TX, Howard Ray, MS. Bobby also leaves 19 grand nephews and nieces and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Monday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, Tuesday from 10-12 am; 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm with Vigil on Tuesday at 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday 9:30 a.m. from the Basilica of St. John the Baptist with inurnment to follow later in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Special thanks to his niece Pauline Reid and to the staff at the Senior Citizens Home for their care and kindness shown to Bobby.
