John Wayne “Jake” Mason, age 67 of Mount Denson, Hants County, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, with his family by his side. Born on January 15, 1947, Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late James and Blanche (Boyd) Mason. He is survived by sons, Daniel (Angela) Mason, Victoria, British Columbia; John (Shelley) Mason, Petawawa, Ontario; daughter, Kimberly (Donald) Ross, Windsor; grandchildren, Lauren and Kathryn Mason, Jake Mason, Chloe Ross; sisters, Margie (Perry) Logan, Windsor Forks; Ida Shaw, Windsor Forks; Sheila (Stewart) Marsh, St. Croix; June (Frank) Lorencovitch, Falmouth; Catherine Urquhart, Shubencadie; Barbara (Ken) Flemming, Ontario; twin sister, Judy Matheson, Ontario; Betty (Bill) Hunter, Ontario; brothers, James (Adeline) Mason, Ontario, and Gary (Heather) Mason, Ontario; sisters-in-law, Winnie Mason, Ontario, and Margaret Mason, New Minas; his beloved pet, Rusty. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Linda Marie Mason (Porter) 2014; sister, Eleanor Edwards; brothers, Robie, William, Harold, Robert, and Donald Mason. Visitation was 7-9 p.m. Sunday, January 18, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2015, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ellen Hunt officiated, followed by interment in the Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jake, were requested to be made to the Daffodil Place (Canadian Cancer Society) or to the Palliative Care Unit (Hants Community Hospital).
