BENNETT, WILLIAM - William James Bennett, 81, Truro, NS and Moncton, NB, passed away on Sunday, January 18 with his loving family at his side in the Moncton Hospital. Born January 22, 1933 in Three Rock Cove, Newfoundland. Known as Willie, Bill, Dad, and Grampie. As a young man he worked in the woods in NFLD until he went into the ministry in his early twenties. When he was unable to continue because of health reasons, he moved to Truro, NS where he met and married his beloved Shirley. He spent his life for his God and his family. He also enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, travelling, and taking photos. He was greatly appreciated and will be sadly missed. Willie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley (Carter) Bennett; son, Maurice (Angela) Bennett, Moncton, NB; daughters, Karen (Rick Peters) Yuzyk, Dartmouth, NS, Shelley Bennett, Hubbards, NS; grandchildren, Edward (Chantal) Bennett, Patricia (Craig) Bennett-Jones, Aaron Bennett, Naomi Bennett, Cody Yuzyk, Calynd (Erica) Yuzyk; siblings, Cecil (Florance) Bennett, Mount Moriah, NL, Gordon (Maisie) Bennett, Gilliams, NL, David (Melissa) Bennett, Irishtown, NL, Ruby Bennett, Truro, NS, Ruth (George) Naugler, Truro, NS, Alice (Bill) Dorey, Maplewood, NS, Verdon (Inez) Bennett, Fort Nelson, BC, Frederick (Hilda) Bennett, Irishtown, NL. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Blanche (Anderson) Bennett; sister, Lilly Mae (Coiley) Marche; brother, Alex Bennett; brothers in infancy Chesley and Millard; sister in infancy, Mary Alice.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. with funeral service on Wednesday, January 21 at 2 p.m., Charles O'Regan and Denis Comeau officiating, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Friends of Moncton Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
