OATES, Hollis– Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital in his 85th year. Leaving to mourn with treasured memories are his wife of 50 years, Thelma; and daughters Lori (Barry Robbins), Carol (Ed Traverse) and Linda (Scott Elford); his eight dearly loved grandchildren: Alex and Abby Robbins, Molly, Luke, Julia and Jacob Traverse, and Emma and Philip Elford will miss their beloved “Pa”. Also leaving to mourn are his sister Marjorie Swain, sisters-in-law Barbara Oates and Leanie Oates, Dorothy Pruitt; brother-in-law Cecil Brett as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Thursday, Jan. 15th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 16th from 10-12 noon. Funeral service will be held from St. James United Church on Friday, Jan. 16th at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Hollis’s memory may be made to St. James United Church AOTS Men’s Club or a charity of one’s choice.
