GOREHAM, Rachel Jayne, 97, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Surf Lodge, Lokeport, N. S. Rachel was born October 23, 1917 in Woods Harbour, N.S. and she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Sadie (Stoddard) Goreham. Rachel loved being involved in community activities. She was a member of the Balmoral Rebekah Lodge for 79 years. A lifetime member of the Do For Others Club. A member of the Woods Harbour Fireman’s Auxiliary and a founding member of the Woods Harbour Volunteer Ambulance. She was also an ambulance worker for the years that it was under volunteer service. She is survived by her sons, Paul (Dotty), Donnie (Marilyn), Maurice; daughters, Rosemarie (Louis) Amiro, Cynthia Goreham; son-in-law, Otho Jones; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Beatrice Adams; special friends, Clark and Donna Dixon; and her many nieces, nephews and friends. Rachel was predeceased by her husband, Lowell; daughter, Enid; granddaughter, Nancy; sister, Madalyn; brothers Arthur and Alva. Rachel had been living at Surf Lodge since July 2013 where she had been under the wonderful care of the nurses and staff whom she loved very much. There will be a visitation from the H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington at 7-9 p.m. on Monday. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at 2 p.m. Pastor Phil Williams officiating. Interment to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Donations in Rachel’s memory may be made to the Canadian Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or a charity of choice. R.I.P Mom.
