Basil A. Davis Jr., age 67, of Lower Five Islands passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.
Born in Five Islands, he was a son of the late Basil and Evelyn (MacBurnie) Davis. Junior was a construction superintendent in the oil, gas, and pulp & paper industries, working primarily with MBB Power Services. He was particularly proud to have received his 50 year service pin from the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Lodge 73. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, liked snowmobiling, four-wheeling, sports and enjoyed the companionship of his many friends and co-workers. Junior, with his son Terry, won the Canadian Ice Racing Federation - Snowmobile Drag Racing Championships in 2002. He was very proud of the community from which he came from, Five Islands, and was a tremendous ambassador for sharing all that this region had to offer. Junior’s greatest joy in life was his family, his children, grandchildren and the love of his life, Lynda whom he lost in 2010.
He is survived by a daughter, Shauna Allen (Gordon), Greenfield; son, Terry (Lisa), Fort McMurray, Alta.; his grandchildren, Jessica Allen, Greenfield; Julia, Brady and Noah Davis, Truro; sisters, Debbie Murphy (Bob), Dartmouth; Helen Dunphy (Wayne), Onslow; Carol Canning (Dave Bailie), Calgary; Donna Davis, Parrsboro; Karen Davis, Parrsboro; brother, William (Doris), Five Islands; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Lynda; a grandson, Tyler in 2008. Visitation 12-2 p.m. on Thursday [February 5, 2015] at the Peniel United Church, Five Islands, where funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., Rev. Florence Antle-Brison officiating.
