The family of Betty Cleve Lockhart, RN, (Wentzel) sadly announces her passing on Monday, February 2, 2015 in Fredericton, NB.
Born in Kentville, Nova Scotia 84 years ago, Betty was raised by Bernie and Sadie Publicover in Blandford, NS, and later adopted by Herbert and Effie Wentzel of Bridgewater, NS. After attending Bridgewater High School, Betty trained at the Victoria General School of Nursing in Halifax, graduating with her RN in 1952. Her nursing career included the Victoria General Hospital (Halifax, NS); Grace Maternity Hospital (St. John’s, NL); St. Joseph’s Hospital (Saint John, NB); and VON (Saint John, NB).
In addition to her husband Bob, Betty is survived by her three children: Diane (Richard) Morton, Riverview, NB; Scott (Agnes) Lockhart, Rothesay, NB; and Heather (Peter) Palmer, Fredericton, NB; her grandchildren: Alex (Jenna) Morton, Ian (April) Morton, Craig Morton, Greg Lockhart, Monica (Jason) McKay, Andrew (Jennifer) Lockhart, Christopher Palmer, and Benjamin Palmer; three great-grandchildren: Clara, Alasdair, and Rory Morton; sisters in law: Norma Fenton, Calgary, AB, Hilda Cleveland, Blandford, NS, and Linda Lockhart, Moncton, NB; her Blandford Publicover family: Annice, Sandy, and Lloyd; and brother Jim Gratto, Kingston, ON.
Betty was predeceased by her brother, Harold Cleveland, Blandford, NS; sister, Pauline Marks, Halifax, NS; and brother in law David Lockhart, Moncton, NB.
Betty was a nurse, gardener, pianist, volunteer, loving matriarch, and Oma to all!
The family will receive visitors on Friday, February 6th, 2015 from 1 Tto 3PM, at McAdam’s Funeral Home (160 York Street, Fredericton, NB).
Donations in Betty’s memory can be made to St. Barnabas Cemetery Fund (Blandford, NS); VON (Saint John); or the Canadian Council for the Blind. Interment will take place in Nova Scotia at a later date.
