It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Henry Edward Hicks, age 82, of Sackville and Glassville, NB. Robert passed away peacefully at the Drew Nursing Home on Tuesday, February 3, 2015.
Born in Sackville, NB, he was a son of the late John and Beatrice (Wilson) Hicks.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a past member of the Sackville Rod and Gun Club. A great family man, he loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He worked for many years with Fawcett Foundry, following his retirement, he and his wife moved to Glassville, NB, where she was originally from, but always maintained roots in Sackville.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Helen (Laing), of Sackille/Glassville, NB; his children Randy (Diana), Sackville, NB, Gayle (Norman) Wry, Sackville, NB, Judy (Bruce) Stone, Upper Rockport, NB; 6 grandchildren, Meghan, Ian, Nathan, Aaron, Evan, and Morgan; 2 great grandchildren Arabella and Leila; 3 step grandchildren, Nick Grant, Cara Beal and Samantha Carter; siblings Marion (Tom) Simms, Jackie (Ron) Beck, John (Anita) Hicks, David (Marlene) Hicks, Roxanne (Bob) Yarndley.
He was predeceased by granddaughter Lindsay Wry Rosario.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300). In keeping with Robert's wishes, cremation has taken place. An Afternoon of Remembrance will be held at St. Ann's Anglican Church Hall, British Settlement on Saturday, February 14, 2015, from 2 to 4 pm. Internment will take place in Glassville, NB at a later date.
