JAMES, MONA GRACE (MILLS)
1933 - 2015
Mona G. James, loving wife of the late Allan M. James, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 10, 2015 in Palliative Care at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Sonora, NS, May 4, 1933, she is the daughter of the late Charles and Annie (MacDonald) Mills.
Mona was a kind woman. She spent the last thirty-six years living on Charlotte Street and loved the area. She really enjoyed shopping and couldn’t resist a bargain. All her shopping supported the many businesses in the uptown area both past and present. After her husband’s passing in 1970, Mona raised her two boys all on her own. She was strong and she loved her family dearly. They stayed in touch daily by phone and she was absolutely delighted to receive phone calls and visits in return.
Mona is survived by her sons Ronald (Nancy Dixon) and Gregory (Nancy); granddaughter Maryellen and grandson Bradley (Lora); great-grandchildren Travis, Alaina, Caleb, Hanah and Rachel Rayne; sister Myrtle Bazenberg of California and a brother Elmer Mills of Wallace Bridge, NS along with her special friends Elise Pearman and Danny and Carol.
Along with her parents and husband Allan, she was predeceased by her sisters Daisy Williamson and Lucy Ryan and infant brother Aubery.
Arrangements under the professional care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) where visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday, February 14, 2015. Visiting will begin at 11 am followed by the funeral at 12 noon.
Interment will take place at a later date in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
