MONTEITH, SHIRLEY ANNA ROBENA
Shirley Monteith of Southampton, NB passed away February 14, 2015 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Shirley was born at Southampton, NB in 1923, a daughter of the late Harry and Theresa (Mills) Caverhill.
Shirley was employed for several years as chief operator at the telephone office in Lower Southampton before its closure. Following this, she worked a short time at Walker’s Department Store and then spent the remainder of her working career at the Nackawic Post Office, retiring in 1988 after more than twenty years service. She was a member of the Kirk United Church.
She is survived by a son, James Monteith (Mabel), Keswick Ridge, NB; a granddaughter, Lisa McConchie (David), Island View, NB; two great-grandsons, Maxwell and Landen; sisters-in-law, Maisie Crain, Nackawic, NB and Mary Caverhill, ON; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Earl Monteith in 2002; brothers, Ervin, Stanley and infant Jimmie Caverhill.
Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Monday evening from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 2 pm from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Lona Johnston officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home dining room. Interment will be later at Otis Cemetery.
