STAGG, Ted (Edward) – Feb. 25, 1943 to Jan. 13, 2009. Died suddenly in Scarborough, Ontario, from a heart attack, aged 65 years. Ted was born at Cape Island, Newfoundland, and moved to Cape Freels North at the age of 10 when Cape Island was re-settled. He moved to the Toronto area for employment when he was only 18 years old and has lived in Scarborough pretty well continuously ever since. After his 65th birthday last February, he continued to work until a few weeks ago, when he decided to take the Winter off but promised his co-workers he’d be back again in the Spring.
Ted was predeceased by his father, Oswald, in 1988. Left to mourn are his mother, Stella (Vincent) Stagg, at Wesleyville, Newfoundland; his wife of 34 years, Pearl (Froude), originally from Lewisporte, and her three children, Candy, Shawn and Alonzo and their families in Toronto area; also his sons, Mark and Cory and their mother, his first wife, Mildred (Boyd) (originally from Lewisporte) and their families in Toronto area; also seven siblings all living in Newfoundland, brothers Harold (Shirley Templeman), Eugene (Sarah Kean), Wesleyville, Scott (Geraldine Hatcher), Lumsden, Terry (Judy Norris), Newtown, David (Gail Gaulton), St. John's, and sisters Gloria (Terry Wareham), Wesleyville, and Marge (Rex Gibbons), St. John's; also numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and uncles and aunts, mostly living in Newfoundland, especially the New-Wes-Valley to Lumsden area.
Ted was waked at the Scarborough Funeral Centre, 2966 Eglinton Avenue East, Scarborough, Ontario, and his funeral was held there on Saturday, January 17th. Some of his ashes are being returned home to Newfoundland, for a memorial service and burial at a later date.
