William John 'Bill' Curran, 73 of Sydney passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Feb. 20, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late John and Pauline (Flynn) Curran.
Bill was a life long member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 138, Ashby. Not only a member, Bill gave a great deal of his time to the legion, whether decorating for Christmas, preparing for Remembrance Day or helping with the dances, we don't think there was anyone who entered that legion who didn't know him and very few who didn't get to hear one of his adventurous stories.
Bill is survived by his sisters, Helen (Neil) Ferguson, Annie (Terry) Gushue; sister-in-law, Linda Curran. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews & godchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Catherine, Mary; brothers, John J. and Paul David in infancy.
As per Bill's wishes, cremation will take place. There will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Ashby Legion, Monday, Feb. 23rd, 1-3 p.m.
A special thank you to the doctors, nurses & volunteers in the Palliative Care Unit 4 E, who all have a special place in our hearts.
