We, the family, regret to announce the passing of Edward Henry 'Eddie' Ashe, 67 of Glace Bay, on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at The Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with his family at his side.
Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late Harold and Lillian Ashe.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy; sister-in-law, Carol and brother-in-law, Raymond McIsaac.
Eddie worked as a coal miner in Cape Breton for many years. He enjoyed ice fishing, or sitting in the barn having a chat with friends enjoying the simple pleasures of a good laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; daughters, Dawn (Brendan) Farrell, Kimberly (Wayne) O'Connell and son, Darren (Tracey) Ashe; granddaughters, Haley, Abbey and Emily; grandsons, Zachary, and Robert. Eddie is also survived by brothers, Harold Jr. (Joan), Brian (Edna), Collie (Bertha), Robert and Wayne; sisters, Olive, Donna, Hazel (Gerry). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends, who loved him dearly.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Feb. 26th at Warden United Church, Glace Bay, Martha MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow at a later date.
A special thank you to all the nurses and doctors of the pallative care unit.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Society hospicecapebreton.org.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
