It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Joseph Alexander Walker on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015 at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Little Pond on Dec. 13, 1938, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Williams) Walker. He was a member of St. Anne’s Parish, Alder Point.
At a young age, he joined the Royal Canadian Army. He was also a miner, and spent most of his life as a fisherman.
He was a loving husband to Marguerite (Gracie), his wife of 52 years, and caring father to Laura, Joanne, Bruce (Debbie), and daughter-in-law, Dannielle. Also left to mourn are his grandchildren, Jordan, Rebecca, Joshua, Nicole, Joey, Elizabeth, Sarah-Jane and Morley. Joey is also survived by his brothers, Francis, Winston (Helena); sisters, Alice (Jim), Diane (Phil) and many sisters and brothers-in-law.
Besides his parents, Joey was predeceased by his son, John; sister, Bunny and sister-in-law, Agnes.
Visitation will be held in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, from 2-4 &7-9 p.m. A celebration of his life will take place Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church, Alder Point, with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating.
