OSCAR JESSE CARGYLE

OSCAR JESSE CARGYLE

December 16, 1919 - February 9, 2015
Ozzie was born in Ashcroft, BC, the eldest of 11 children. He served with the Canadian army in Europe during the war and was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion #219. With his passing, they lose their last surviving WW2 veteran.
Ozzie came to the Coast with his wife Anne and took ownership of Duncan Cove Marina in Pender Harbour. From there they moved to Sechelt as owners of the Cozy Court Motel. Retiring to Roberts Creek, Ozzie built the home he and Anne lived in for over 30 years.
He was a self-sufficient man who enjoyed Canadian football, cats, music and working with his hands – a jack of all trades, equally adept at fixing engines or making blackberry jelly. He was a kind and gentle man with a quiet humour that helped him navigate life’s difficult passages.
Predeceased by Ann in 2013, he is survived by two sisters, nieces and nephews.
His family and friends are very appreciative of the compassionate care Ozzie received at Totem Lodge, his home for the last years of his life.
