CLUNEY COLLINS
August 6, 1945 – March 3, 2015

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal…love leaves a memory no one can steal

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Cluney Collins announces his passing on March 3, 2015 at Lakeside Homes in Gander at the age of 70. Cluney passed away peacefully surrounded by members of his loving family. He is predeceased by his parents Phillip and Emily, and his son Terry. He leaves to mourn his partner Linda Kelly; son Juan (Kim) and grandchildren Jennifer, Janine and Crystal. Also left to mourn are his stepchildren: Velma, Amanda, Vanessa, Robbie, Darren, Randy and Joey and their families, including numerous grandchildren. Cluney will be dearly missed by his three sisters: Frances Glover (Sandy), Beulah Courtney (Howard), Glenda Woodford (Pat) and three brothers: Seymore (Beatie), Jess (Gladys), and Derrick (Donna). He will also be remembered by his many nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to him as ‘Uncle Clune’, and extended relatives and friends. Cluney was born on August 6, 1945 to Phillip and Emily Collins and raised in Hare Bay, Bonavista Bay. He attended Gander District Vocational School and worked as an autobody repairman and a welder for most of his life and he also worked in construction – all of which he loved and did so well. He loved to go rabbit catching, ice fishing and berry picking. Cluney will be fondly remembered for his love of life and his family, his easy-going personality, and his great sense of humor. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful nursing staff at James Paton Memorial Hospital and Lakeside Homes for their kindness and exceptional care. And a special thank-you goes out to Dr. Mikhail who provided the utmost amazing care and support during Cluney’s illness, along with Captain Corey Pinkson and Major Stan Higdon for the love, support and prayers given to Cluney and his family. Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice in Cluney’s memory.
