She married Richard Lopeter in September, 1957. She worked briefly at Simpson-Sears after graduating from high school. She was employed at Woolworths when the Wheatland Mall opened. She then worked at Chez Cloth. She loved this job because she loved to sew. She sewed wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses and graduation dresses for family over the years. She loved music and played the piano and the bass guitar. Barb loved gardening, growing the most zucchini, and squash we have ever seen. She loved chickens, having several pets and incubating her own chicks. Barb loved cats and had many pet cats over the years. She and Richard bought a lot at Beaver Flats in 1976 and designed and built the cabin of their dreams. The cabin has been a big part of all of our lives ever since. Barb will be remembered for her leadership and her great strength of character, her independence, her love of her grandchildren, her love of wood stoves and her campfire coffee, grounds and all. In the New Year, she joked about becoming a member of The Bald Club when chemo necessitated that they shave her hair off. She was determined to fight this disease but quickly lost her battle. She loved the Allan Blair Cancer Center and the Swift Current Care Center. We thank them for their loving support for the brief time she was there. She loved her pets and so the family request donations be made to the Swift Current S.P.C.A., Box 1163, Swift Current, SK. S9H 3X3.
