It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Murray Alexander Cann, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, on Monday, March 9, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in North Sydney, Murray was the son of the late John and Jessie (Baker) Cann.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Frenchvale. Murray was a lumberman who worked in the woods as a woodcutter all his life.
He is survived by his son Troy (Madeline) Cann, Frenchvale and grandson Adam; his brother John (Debbie) Cann, Millville and sister Marilyn Cann, Frenchvale and also by a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Murray was predeceased by his two brothers, Leonard and Billy, sister Catherine and nephew Christopher Cann.
A visitation for Murray will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary’s Church, Frenchvale with a funeral mass to follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Abbass officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
