Gilbert, Cedric J. – Age 94, of New Canaan, Cumberland County passed away peacefully in the presence of his three sons on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan. Born in New Canaan, he was a son of the late Maurice and Kathleen (Nicholson) Gilbert. Cedric lived in New Canaan and Lakelands for most of his life, except for during the war when he served overseas from 1941-1945. Cedric was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary in 2011; his brothers, Chesley, Calvin, Courtney, Corylass, Clyde, Craig and Cleveland. Cedric will be greatly missed by his sons, Jeffrey (Jan), Ashton, Ont.; Allan, Ottawa; Brian (Celeste), Lower Sackville; his brother, Curtis, Ottawa; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeff), Michael (Lesia), Kenda (Troy), Jon, Ryan (Debbie), Natasha (Carson); great grandchildren, Maddison, Cassie, Lily, Calleigh, Patrick, Donovan, Brayden and Riley. He will be also be missed by Dean Reddy, Skip & Margo Gilbert, and Norby Meldrum. Visitation 12 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro where funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., Rev. Dawn Léger officiating.
