Lucy Reid, Westmount N.S.
The funeral of the late Lucy Reid was held Wednesday February 18, 2015 under the direction of Wayne Weatherbee and staff of Sydney Memorial Chapel. Mass celebrating the life of Lucy was held at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Sydney River, officiated by Fr. Duane Devereaux. Pallbearers were Lucy’s seven grandsons: Andrew Rutherford, Chris, Kyle, Jeffrey, Corey and Shawn Reid and Bradley Arndt. Poems dedicated to Lucy, written by her son Barry and granddaughter-in-law Sarah Reid were offered by family friend Kelly McNenly. Mass readings were read by Lucy’s granddaughters Jennifer MacLean and Taryn Rutherford. Lucy’s granddaughter Emma Arndt served as soloist, while granddaughters Kristen, Brenna and Chloe Reid accompanied by great-granddaughter Kate MacLean brought forth the communion gifts. Grandson-in-law Jonathan MacLean greeted mourners. Music was rendered by the parish choir and a recessional fiddle solo was delivered by Howie MacDonald.
We the family of the late Lucy Reid, wish to express our sincere gratitude for the support we received during this time of bereavement. For all of our family and friends who sent cards, delicious food, online condolences, memorial donations, calls and visits, we will be forever grateful. We would like to thank the staff of Sydney Memorial Chapel for your kindness, guidance and professionalism. Thanks also to Father Devereaux for his inspired eulogy, to the bereavement team of Our Lady of Fatima for their comfort and support and to the ladies auxiliary for the lunch after the service. A special thank you to family friend Kelly McNenly for help with the programs and for reading family poetry before the service. Lucy would be proud!
Finally, we would like to thank all of the family and friends who travelled for the visitation and funeral service. Your support was a true blessing!
