VACON, Lucie Eritte – age 90, Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac, Dayton and formerly of Yarmouth, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 in the Villa, while holding the hand of her loving husband. Born February 27, 1925 in Pinkney’s Point, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Événie (Clairmont) Surette. Lucie lived with her daughter, Maria, for many years, but came to love the Villa as her home, where she was eventually joined by her husband, Raymond. She was a homemaker and a loving and devoted caregiver to many people throughout the years. She enjoyed dancing, taking walks, spending time outdoors and she was especially fond of summer, but most of all Lucie loved to laugh. She is survived by her loving husband, Raymond Vacon, as well as by their children, Maria Colquhoun (Brandon Perry), Halifax; Danica Vacon, Yarmouth and Cynthia Schliet, Florida, as well as by her grandchildren, Shaynon (Tina) Wallace, Brandon Snooks, Melissa Schliet and Joshua Schliet, and a sister, Barbara Cottreau, Wedgeport. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by children, Alec and Michelle, both in infancy, as well as by sisters, Rose (in infancy), Ivey Cunningham, Bella Surette, Bernice Taylor, Leah Fardy, Lillian Doherty, Beatrice Boudreau and a brother, Bernard Surette. Visitation took place from 7-9 Friday evening, with prayers at 8 p.m. at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 14 from Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Yarmouth, Rev. Fabian Ihunegbo officiated. Spring interment will take place in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation (Renal Dialysis Unit) or to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
