WHITING, DOUGLAS ROBERT
Douglas Robert Whiting, 75, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Thursday, March 12, 2015, with his loving family at his side. Born in Halifax, NS, he was the son of the late William and Edna (Fraser) Whiting.
Douglas worked as an elevator technician, retiring with Thyssenkrup, with 37 years’ service. A jack of all trades, he enjoyed nature, walking in the woods and tinkering around the house.
Douglas will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 24 years, Elizabeth (Kirby) Whiting; daughters, Wendy Butler (Bart) of Amherst, NS, Lisa Whiting (Ken) and Nadine Whiting (Pat), both of Moncton; son, Matt Whiting (Amy) of Moncton; grandchildren, Meghan, Lindsay, Brenna and Jordan; brother, David Whiting (Cecile) of Ontario; sisters, Anne Kelly (Don) of Mount Uniacke, NS and Edna Wheeler (Steve) of LaHave, NS; sister-in-law, Joyce Whiting of Lower Sackville, NS.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Bill Whiting.
A heartfelt thank you to the nurses and doctors of 3600 Unit of The Moncton Hospital, and especially Dr. Park, for the care and compassion shown to Douglas and his family during his illness.
A Funeral Service will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Scott Ryder officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Stilesville Cemetery.
In memory of Douglas, donations to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
