Gusaas, Rose Margaret (Small)
April 7, 1916 - March 12,2015
We are sad to announce the passing of Mrs. Rose Gusaas on March 12,2015.
She is survived by her son Larry and many loved nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by her husband Harley,1998, by her parents Harry and Ethel Small, brothers Arthur, Fred, and Harry and twin sister Dorothy Wuschke and sister Gertrude age 9, sisters- in-law Marion and Marjorie Small, brothers-in-law Dave McLaren and Otto Wuschke. Rose was born April 7th 1916 on the family farm 1 mile west of Mortlach. She received her education in Mortlach until Grade 12, and then went to Moose Jaw with her twin sister Dorothy to attend Normal School. She then taught school at Broadview School NE of Parkbeg.
Rose and Harley were married on June 23, 1941 at St. John’s Anglican Church Moose Jaw. They lived on the Gusaas farm till 1977 when they retired to Moose Jaw.
While growing up Rose was a Girl Guide and joined the Junior Women’s Auxiliary at the age of 6 and continued on in several capacities, last ones being President of Diocesan ACW Diocese of Qu’Appelle, Treasurer Moose Jaw Deanery ACW and President of St. Barnabes ACW. Rose was also involved in Boy Scouts along with husband Harley. She was awarded the Medal of Good Service for her work as National Training level 3 in 1982.
Rose loved to cook and many of us have fond memories of her meals and her wonderful cookies. She also loved to crochet and gave many items to her friends and extended family.
In later years her eye sight deteriorated and after breaking her hip she went to live at Extendicare in 2013. We wish to thank Extendicare for the loving and compassionate care they gave to her.. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Those wishing may meet at Rosedale Cemetery 1804 Caribou St. W (corner of Thatcher & Caribou St.)at 2: 00 o’clock Tuesday April 7,2015 for the interment of her ashes.
