Edward Fagan
Oct. 10, 1924 - March 14, 2015
Passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Complex following a brief illness and while surrounded by his loving family, Edward Joseph Fagan, of St. Joseph's, St. Mary's Bay aged 90 years. Predeceased by his father Phonse and mother Mary (nee Williams), wife Mildred (nee Tremblett), son Peter, grandsons Mackenzie Fagan and Christopher Power, brother Harold and sister Stella Whitworth. Leaving to mourn sons: Edward (Mary), Phonse, Steve (Debbie), Kevin (Shirley), Art (Zena), daughters: Rose (Ron Power), Ann Marie (Tony Reardon), Agnes and Muriel (Jim Reva), 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, brother John (Marie), sister-in-law Katherine Fagan and numerous nephews and nieces and many friends. Ed loved to laugh, dance, sing, tell stories and play host to his famous jiggs dinners and the "big game of darts" every Sunday. He was the quintessential jack-of-all-trades, who could turn his hand to anything and would face any challenge to support his family. His trouting skills were legendary (or so he claimed!). He lived independently right to the end, in the house he built with his own hands just in time for his wedding in 1948. He never lost his sense of humour and some of his final words were to make jokes with the nurses. True to his family and true to himself till the very end - he is much loved and will be long remembered. Resting at Enright Memorial Chapel, St. Joseph's, on Monday, March 16, from 7 - 9pm and Tuesday, March 17, 2 - 4pm; 7 - 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 18, at 10:30am, at St. Joseph's Church. Burial to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Good Shepherd Parish, in care of the family, for repairs to be made to the St. Joseph's Parish House. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Gibbons' Funeral Home, St. Mary's. To express condolences online please visit our website at www.gibbonsfuneral.ca.
