Cecil Roy Reid
5 March 1943 – 28 January 2015
The family of the late Roy Reid extends heartfelt gratitude and thanks for so many expressions of caring and kindness during the last days and loss of our loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend.
Expressions of sympathy through phone calls, flowers, cards, Mass cards, online condolences and memorial donations continually lifted our spirits and were greatly appreciated. Visits to our home, gifts of food, and snow-clearing considerably eased our burden during a most difficult time, and were received with much thankfulness.
We appreciate the continual kindness, understanding and respect shown to Roy and our family by Dr. Robert O’Driscoll and Community Health nurses, especially Tammy Benoite. Thanks also to Dr. Valerie Jefford, doctors, nursing staff, medical lab staff, technicians, and support staff at Western Memorial Regional Hospital’s Emergency Department, Units 4A and 4B, and the Intensive Care Unit in carrying out their professional duties with care and compassion.
We are grateful for all family, friends, neighbours and colleagues whose funeral home visits and attendance at Roy’s Celebration of Life comforted us greatly, and especially to those who travelled long distances though winter weather to be with us.
Thank you to Father Don Leonard for his visits to our home and hospital and for leading the Wake Service, to Father Ambrose Hynes for celebrating the Funeral Mass, to the Sacred Heart Folk Choir for infusing both services with the joy of song, to Damian Power for uplifting organ music, and to family, friends and members of Sacred Heart Parish who participated in these services, shared fond memories of Roy, and were pallbearers.
Thank you also to Laura Fillatre and the staff at Fillatre’s Funeral Home for their concern, accommodation and professionalism in attending to our needs.
We will always cherish the comfort, support and consolation received through so many generous acts of love and kindness. Roy will be missed by many; the joys he happily shared in life will always live on in our hearts.
With Sincerest Appreciation,
Wife Carol and children Jan, Lisa, Barbara, Mike and Joe.
