It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michelle Martell, daughter of Reginald and Gwen Martell of Black Brook, Port Morien on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the regional hospital with her family by her side.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and had many other family members who cared deeply for her.
Michelle was born on April 7, 1968 on her father’s birthday. She attended Gowrie and Donkin School and graduated from Donkin High School. She received a certificate in mechanical drafting and her level two in early childhood development. She worked for Stern’s Signs as office manager and then for E.D.S. before having to leave due to ill health. She loved animals and did some volunteer grooming at the SPCA for a short time. Her dog “Drake” and cats “Smokie and Kit” will miss her very much. She adored and was so proud of her son, Matthew and little grandchild, Maggie B. MacCormick (Martell). Her time spent with Maggie was so precious to her. Michelle also loved spending time at the bungalow and spent many a summer swimming in the Mira. She also had a special place in her heart for her cousin Laura Young, who was like a daughter to her.
Michelle leaves to mourn her son Matthew; granddaughter, Maggie; parents, Reg & Gwen; brother, Mark and several aunts, uncles, cousins.
She was predeceased by her grandmothers and grandfathers, John and Annie MacNeil and Bob and Beulah Martell as well as her cousin, Danny Martell.
There will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 20, 2015 at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Port Morien with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
Donations may be made to the SPCA or charity of your choice.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurse, Sheldon MacInnis at the regional hospital for their compassion and care for Michelle during her brief stay.
