PICTOU – Christian Poirier, 41, of Pictou, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 19th, 2015.
Christian is survived by his partner, Kathy Ross; children, Jenna and Micaela Poirier; parents, Dorothy and Maurice Poirier; siblings, Nigel Poirier, Adele Poirier, Jared Poirier and Yvette Turnbull (husband Mark, and children Quinn, Ayla and Aiden).
Christian worked as a Boilermaker in Fort McMurray, where he made many friends and was recognized for his strong work ethic, and warm personality. After Christian’s brain cancer diagnosis, he returned to his hometown of Pictou to be close to his daughters, who were his pride and joy. He spent his days doing what he loved most; being with friends and family, enjoying music, and playing golf, which he developed a true passion for. Christian walked a delicate line between living for the moment and accepting his illness. His positive outlook, courage, and unwavering sense of humour have been an inspiration to all.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 23rd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in McLaren Funeral Home, 246 Faulkland St., Pictou. A celebration of Christian’s life will be held at the Pictou Fire Hall, 166 Church St., Pictou, on Saturday, March 28th at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
