It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Patricia Vivian Power, on Sunday, April 5, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her family.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Vivian (Jesso) MacDonald. She was admired and respected by all who knew her; she was a true and loyal person to many wonderful friends throughout the years, especially her best friends and sisters, Hughena and Carol. Mom was known for her kindness, her sense of humour, her infectious smile and her ability to comfort her loved ones with her unwavering strength. She was a proud, devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Patricia enjoyed the simple things in life: cherishing her family, relaxing at home, a day at the beach and knitting for her grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert 'Bob' and daughter, Corinne MacKenzie.
She is survived by her children, Charmaine (Everett) Knickle, Carolyn (Donnie) Power, Cheryl (Glen) MacIntosh, Christopher Power and Chad (Kerri-Lynn) Power; her grandchildren, Kelly, Michael, Mark, Gregory, Nicole, Matthew, Adam, Cory, David, Christopher, Liam, Cameron and great-grandchildren, Logan & Ciaran; sisters, Hughena Gracie & Carol Baxendale and also by numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral mass for Patricia will be held 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
