It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Adrian Joseph MacLellan, 37, of New Waterford on April 22, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, he is a son of John and Marie (Desveaux) MacLellan.
Adrian was a member of St. Agnes Church, where he served as an alter boy for many years. He attended CBU and later went on to work for The Giant radio station and was responsible for setting up offsite broadcasting at various locations throughout Cape Breton. Adrian was a die-hard Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Blue Jays fan who also loved playing darts. He was the junior dart champion of Nova Scotia and went on to represent the province at the Youth National Dart Championship.
Surviving are his parents, John and Marie; sister Stacey (Stephen) McMullin, Carp, Ont.; brother Matthew, Vancouver; nephew and niece, Benjamin and Ella; uncles and aunts, Roland (Dorothy), Arthur (Josie), Philip (Dawn), Frank (Nancy), George (Anne Marie), Rose (John) Hutchinson, Bertha (Kevin) Williamson, Cecilia Desveaux, Christina (William) Buchanan, Roddie MacLellan, John Joseph 'J.J.' MacLellan, Agnes MacLellan; grandaunts, Florence Beaton and Margaret ‘Mockey’ MacIntyre.
Adrian was predeceased by a sister, Johna Marie in infancy, maternal grandparents, Georgette and Albert Desveaux, uncle Leo Desveaux, paternal grandparents, Joseph and Mary MacLellan, aunt, Hughena MacLellan.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Saturday, April 25 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Cremation will follow. A luncheon will be held at St. Leonard's Parish Hall on Convent Street, New Waterford, immediately following the funeral mass.
