It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Frances passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015, in her 88 year with her loving grandchildren and lifelong friend Kaye McInnis by her side, in the ICU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, March 9, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Muriel (Wilson) MacPherson.
Nanny is forever loved and will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Allan MacDonald, whom she resided with in Glace Bay; Beth Gillis, Sydney; Christina (Dion) Joe, Sydney: brothers Stewart MacPherson, Clare MacPherson ; sister in-law Margie McCumber , chosen daughter Donna (Campbell) MacDonald, (Sydney). Frances will also be sadly missed by her beloved great-grandchildren; Allan (Nanny’s sunshine), Dakota, Dwayne, Haley and many nieces, nephews and special niece, Raine Harris.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Allan J. MacDonald; son Francis 'Frankie' MacDonald; brothers Eric and sisters-in-law Olive and Ruby.
In honoring Frances’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
A graveside service will be held at St Mary’s Anglican cemetery a later date.
