
Edward Baxter
BAXTER, Edward Lloyd: 93, former resident of Middleton, passed away peacefully at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, on April 28, 2015 from complications due to Parkinson’s. Born on Nov. 4, 1921 in Digby, NS, he was the son of the late Digby Brooks and Mary Viola (Handspiker) Baxter. Shortly after his marriage to Helen Victoria Sine of Belleville, ON. they moved to Middleton to live and raise a family. Ed worked as a traveling salesman for Digby and later Atlantic Wholesalers, serving various grocery outlets throughout the western Valley for 42 years. He was active in both church and community, serving for 18 years with the Middleton Volunteer Fire Dept. Both he and his family enjoyed many summers at the cottage which he built at Trout Lake. Shortly after celebrating their 60th anniversary, Helen passed away in 2010. He is survived by his children Larry (Cliff), Halifax; Brian, Vancouver and Kathy (Gary), Wolfville;
grandchildren Troy (Kelly) Bishop, Jackson's Point, ON. and Kameco (Marty) Sheehy, Red Deer, AB; and his great grandchildren Benjamin Bishop, and Abigail and Ayla Sheehy. He is also survived by his youngest brother Joe (Joan), Belleville; sisters-in-law Rose, Halifax and Pat, London, ON, plus several nieces and nephews and one godchild. Besides his wife Helen, Ed was predeceased by his infant twins Vincent Edward and Vicki Lynn; brothers Bernie, Deep Brook and Jimmy, London; sister Pauline (Ross) Boyce, Belleville and son-in-law Hugh McLellan, Vancouver. Special thanks to the staff, residents and volunteers of Mountain Lea Lodge who made his stay and care in his new home so welcoming and warm. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Middleton at 2:00 PM on Saturday May 9, 2015 with Rev. Paul Jennings officiating. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery with a reception/visitation following at 3:00 PM. No flowers at the family’s request. Donations may be made to Mountain Lea Lodge Bridgetown; Holy Trinity Church, building fund, Trinity Anglican Church (Digby) cemetery fund; any Middleton or other charity of your choice.
