The family regrets to announce the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend on May 3, 2015. Mom passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.
Born in Dominion, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Edward O. and Mary Magdelene (Bennett) MacDonald. She devoted her life to her family becoming a widow at a very young age and left to raise the large family of 16 on her own in Johnstown. Mom greeted everyone with a huge smile and had a great sense of humour.
She was a woman of very strong faith with a great devotion to St Theresa. She belonged to the ”Children of Mary” and was a member of the CWL for more than 50 years. She was an avid card player and loved to go to any 45 game.
Gen is survived by daughters, Marie, Margie, Theresa, Anne, Rita, Bertha, Bernadette and Joan; sons, Francis, Terry, Eddie, Eugene, Paul and Kevin; sisters, Rita MacDonald and Sister Joseph Marie MacDonald CSM; sister-in-law, Ann; 36 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank in 1967; sons, Robert and Allie; grandson, James; sisters, Theresa, Annie, Mae and her twin, Bridget; brothers, John Henry, George, Charles, Edward OMI, Francis OMI and Joseph.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, May 9, from 9-10:30 a.m. at Curry’s Glace Bay Funeral Home, 775 Main St. The funeral mass will follow at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception, Bridgeport, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers or memoriams, donations may be made to the CWL Immaculate Conception Parish, Bridgeport.
