ZABOYSKY
Helen Zaboysky passed away on May 6, 2015 at the age of 97. Helen was born at Mundare, AB in 1917 and came to Moose Jaw in 1936. She married Nickolas Zaboysky on April 3, 1937. Helen worked at the Melon Dew Café and then at the Grant Hall as the pastry chef. She and Nick owned and operated Nick’s Café for 8 years. During this time they built an apartment building which they then managed. She did all of the painting and maintenance in the building herself. In 1973 they purchased the Churchill Hotel, which they operated until purchasing the Winston Hotel in 1976. She retired in 1995. Helen had a garden and did lots of canning. She was a wonderful cook, being famous for her perogies and cabbage rolls. Her home was always spotlessly kept, and a pot of soup was always on. Helen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was very generous and was always ready to lend a hand when needed. She was a hard worker. Helen was a faithful member of St. John’s Anglican Church (now St. Aidan), attending as long as her health allowed. Helen and Nick enjoyed travelling, making 3 trips to Europe. She is predeceased by her parents Lena and William Klark; brothers, Peter, George, John, Gordon, Nick, Pat, and Bill. Helen is survived by two children: son, Larry (Marie) and their children, Sandra (Dan) Tonge, Rick (Stacy), and Doug; daughter, Linda (Cal) Aird and their children, Chris (Marcy), Janet Aird, and Natalie Aird (Shaun Arpin); great-grandchildren, Darian Tonge, Bret Frick, Ryan Aird, Victoria Aird and Akxel Arpin; sister Mary Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Aidan Anglican Church, Monday, May 11, 2015 at 1:30 pm. The Reverend Deacon Arleen Champion will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. A time of visitation will take place at the Church at 1:00 pm. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be made to the Sask. Heart & Stroke Foundation, or to St. Aidan Anglican Church.
