Peter Archambault

ARCHAMBAULT, PETER GEORGE
On May 17, 2015 Peter Archambault passed away peacefully in the presence of his daughters at the Hotel Dieu St-Joseph Hospital in Saint-Quentin, NB. Peter was born on March 24, 1939, son of Paul and Corinne (Thibodeau) Archambault in Madawaska, Maine.
Peter was blessed with seeing the world through the eyes of an artist. From a young boy to his final days, his drawings and art reached out to the artist in each of us.
After graduation from Madawaska High School in 1957, he attended St. Joseph College in Biddeford, Maine and the Rhode Island School of Art & Design in Providence, Rhode Island. He served two years in the US Army, and on November 30, 1962 he was married to Flore Godbout of Drummond, NB. The artist became a father with three children, Lisa Archambault of Moncton, NB, John Archambault (passed on August 24, 1990), and Denise (Archambault) McCluskey and her husband Michael of Moncton, NB. He has been blessed with three grandchildren, Samuel Morin and wife Hayley, Richard Malenfant and Kaitlin Malenfant, all of Moncton, NB. Peter had three brothers, Paul and wife Elaine of Brunswick, Maine, John and wife Gwendolyn of Brewer, Maine and Jim (passed in 2013) and wife Louise of Madawaska, Maine.
Peter was a consummate artist, and a profound writer, who loved people, animals and the raw beauty of nature. Throughout the wide variety of work and creative projects he did in his life, he could always be found with his drawing pad of paper, a tin of graphite leads and black charcoal smudged fingers. Peter's most recent project is a series of historical drawings of the people and the life of Kedgwick, NB, which will be displayed in the new tower being built to commemorate the village's centennial celebration. The drawings hold the love and deep respect he had for the beautiful people and lands of this corner of the Upper Appalachian Mountains.
The commemorative ceremony will occur on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at La Residence Funeraire Valcourt in Saint-Quentin, NB, 254 rue Canada. The doors will open at 1:30pm, and the ceremony will start at 2:00pm. Friends and family are invited to bring a special piece of Peter's artwork to be displayed during the gathering; pieces large or small, framed or not, even some scribbled on a napkin. There will be time for anyone who would like to get up and speak a few words or share a story... and if you're thinking of bringing flowers, Peter's favourite colour is yellow. Funeral Arrangements are by Residence Funeraire Valcourt, 254 rue Canada, Saint-Quentin, NB, B8A 1H5
