G. Douglas Green

GREEN, G. DOUGLAS
With heavy hearts, the family of G. Douglas Green announce his peaceful passing, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Greenfield, NB, on June 4, 1926, he is the son of the late James and Ada Green and beloved husband of Carol (Clark) Green for 58 years.
Doug worked as a long haul transport driver for nearly 40 years until his retirement in 1991. He absolutely enjoyed his work, even though his routes took him far from home for lengthy periods of time. Carol was his rock at home, caring for their daughters and keeping the household running in his absence. He was a man of few words, quiet and gentle, loved so very dearly by his family. Doug had a wonderful sense of humour, he could light up a room with his famous, dry, “one liners”. Doug belonged to the Men’s Supper Club at St. Mark’s United Church, the Milford Merry Makers Senior Club and he was a big Blue Jays Fan, rarely missing a game.
Along with his wife Carol, Doug is survived by his daughters Susan Blanden (Steve) of Mississauga, ON., and Kim Flewelling (Bruce) of Saint John, NB; grandchildren Natasha (Jerry), Michael (Adam), Jillian, Samantha and Thomas; great-grandchildren Mya, Chloe and Keira and several extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Roy and Floyd Green and infant brother Harold Green; sisters Leota Gallagher, Aletha Mean and Anna Hopkins.
Arrangements entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visiting Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 11 am with a reception to follow at the funeral home. Following cremation, interment will take place at a later date.
Due to severe flower allergies in Doug’s family, memorial donations made to or Bobby’s Hospice or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
