RAE, ROBERT EUGENE
Dr. Robert E. Rae, FRCS(C), of Quispamsis, NB passed away May 23, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was the youngest son of the late Perley and Clara (Knox) Rae, long-time proprietors of Rae’s General Store in Dumfries, NB.
Robert was predeceased by brothers: Ronald and Arnold; survived by brothers: Glenden, Clifford, and Aunden; married to his high school sweetheart, Daphne Brewer, for 44 years; proud father of Kari Rae (Anthony Hanson), Elisabeth Rae (Tom Healy), and Andrew Rae (Natalie Smith); and doting Papa to Kieran, Jack, Sarah, Olivia, Alice, Gemma, and awaited seventh grandchild this July.
Robert was an alumnus of Dalhousie and Western Universities; Practitioner of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery in Saint John since 1986; Past-President of the Saint John Medical Society, New Brunswick Medical Society, and the Canadian Otolaryngological Society; avid golfer, card ‘shark’, and scotch enthusiast.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), visiting will take place on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 2 to 6 pm. On Wednesday, May 27, 2015, a second day of visiting will take place from 2 to 6 pm at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic (575-8988). In keeping with Dr. Rae’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service. Interment will take place at a later date in Barony Cemetery, Dumfries, NB.
Remembrances to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Canadian Cancer Society, First Steps Housing, or the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
