ZARPA, Hulda– It is with sadness that family and friends announce the sudden passing of Hulda Zarpa at her home. She leaves behind three children — son Norman and daughters Rhoda and Samantha, as well as her mother Elizabeth, sister Katie and brothers Edward and Sam and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Richard, father Abraham, sister Dora, brother Abraham and nephew August. Born and raised in Nain, Labrador, Hulda lived in St. John's for many years and was a valued member of the Stella Burry community. She will be remembered with affection for her warm humour and generous heart. She leaves behind a large circle of friends who loved and admired her courage, wisdom and her indomitable spirit. Visitation will take place Tuesday, January 27th at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John’s from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A memorial service to celebrate Hulda’s life will be held at Wesley United Church, 101 Patrick Street, St. John's, on Wednesday, January 28th, 2009 at 2 p.m. In Hulda’s memory, donations may be made to the Stella Burry Foundation or the Native Friendship Centre.
