The passing of Leonard Roderick 'Len' MacNeil, age 81, the only son of the late Hector and Rose (Steele) MacNeil, occurred on Friday, May 29, 2015 at the Northside General Hospital with his family at his side.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Marilyn Anne (Piehl) MacNeil in January 2006, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and a cousin, Joan.
He was the proud and loving brother of Pauline (Tom) Taylor of Ross Ferry and Laurnice (Roy) MacLeod of Dartmouth. He carried a silent admiration for his nieces and nephews, Lisa, Jennifer, Ian and Kyle.
Len was a private person as is evident from the obituary that he wrote. However, we his sisters wish to share his everyday persona. Leonard was honest, sincere, witty, and sarcastic and enjoyed his daily Crypto quotes. He was a man of his word and always willing to lend a helping hand when necessary. We always knew that he was there for us at any time, for any reason. For the past few years he battled cancer with humour, courage and dignity and faced death in the same manner.
Len has requested that there be no visitation or religious ceremony. Cremation has taken place.
Memorial donations can be made to a charity of choice.
