LETKEMAN: Verna Joan aged 73 of Swift Current, SK passed away on June 6, 2015 at the Swift Current Care Centre. The Memorial Service will be held on Friday June 19, 2015 from the East Side Church Of God with Pastor Kevin Snyder officiating. Verna is survived by her son Jeff (Grace) McKinley and their children Aaron and Amber; daughter Janet (Owen) Klath and their children Miranda (Graham) Hall, Michael Dyck, and Makayla Klath, and great grandchildren Ethan and Sophie Dyck; sisters Irma (Harold) Dueck, Mona (Alf) Roset, Edna Harms, Viola Letkeman, Elma (Lavern) Falk; brothers Norman (Marge) Letkeman and Rick (Bernice) Letkeman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Sarah and Jacob Letkeman; husband Sieg Blaesner; brother-in-law Art Dueck and Jake Harms; and the father of her children Donald (Butch) McKinley. Verna attended school in Gouldtown, SK. Verna moved to Swift Current in her teens where she later had her 2 children Jeff and Janet. She waitressed at various restaurants. For a few years she was part of the management for the ladies wear department of Woolworths that she really enjoyed. Verna met Sieg Blaesner in 1982 in Drayton Valley, AB and together they built and marketed machines Sieg designed. After moving around they settled in Medicine Hat, AB in 1997. Sieg continued to build machines out of their garage, Verna helped out and did the book work which she enjoyed. She settled into a routine of going for her morning coffee, having some good laughs and talks with the other regulars at A&W, and doing her daily word searches. She also took great pride in her lawn and flowers, loving the outdoors, and always taking her grandchildren to the park when they came to visit. but mostly she loved to walk - it was like breathing to her and the day just wasn't right without her walk! When Sieg passed away in 2013 Verna moved back to Swift Current. She enjoyed being with her family more and having coffee with her sister and still keeping up with her walks until she was no longer able.
