At Community Hospital, O’Leary, with his loving wife of 48 years at his side, on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, of Wayne Michael Bowser of Portage, formerly of Dartmouth, N.S., aged 67, beloved husband of Ellen (nee Hackett) Bowser. Born in Dartmouth, N.S., on Nov. 30, 1941, son of Yvonne (Martell) Bowser, Dartmouth and the late Stanley Patrick Bowser. Wayne graduated from St. Peter’s High School, Dartmouth, in 1959. His career spanned four decades beginning with long-haul trucking and operating a Gulf Service station in Dartmouth. He joined the Canadian Coast Guard and was on the maiden voyage of the Sir John A. Macdonald icebreaker, then served on the Louis. St. Laurent, The Tupper and The Wolfe as Stationary Engineer. Wayne continued his seafaring ways with Crosbie’s Offshore Oil and Texas Instruments where he travelled the globe. He was part of the salvage of the Air India crash site off the coast of Ireland. Wayne left the maritime life for the N.W.T. to work as a mechanic for N.W.T. Power and then retired in Edmonton from O’Hanlan Paving in 2005. Dear father of Kevin (Sandy), Kitchener, Ont.; Christine Ritchie, Portage, P.E.I.; Marie (Andrew) MacLeod, Halifax, N.S. Loving grandfather of Jeffrey, Morgan, Sarah, Nicholas, Stephanie, Allan, Cilian. Brother of Patricia (Michael) DeYoung, Dartmouth, N.S. Predeceased by a brother, Michael, in infancy. Resting at the Ferguson Funeral Home and Chapel, O’Leary. Forwarded to Dartmouth, N.S., for completion of funeral arrangements. Memorial donations to The Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
