The family are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Patrick Burton at home on July 7, 2015.
Born in Glace Bay, on July 1, 1941, he was the son of the late Leo and Mary Ann (Burns) Burton.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Joan Burton; his children Debbie (Omar) Roach, Patti (Ken) Bedecki & Richard (Teresa); grandchildren Sarah, Bria, Jennifer, Kyle, Adam, Kent and Leah; great- granddaughter Sophia; sisters Leone (George) Briand, Windsor, Ont, Irene Moore, Claire (Harvey) McPhee, both of Glace Bay; also by his friend Shirley Furey; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by an infant son Joseph; sisters Rose, Carolanne and brother Richard.
Pat retired from Devco after working over 30 years as a miner. He was an avid horseman, and an active member of the Reserve Mines Pensioners Club, Glace Bay Pensioners Club and the Hub Club. He loved life and lived it to the fullest in his own way.
As per his request, cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 10, 2-4and 7-9pm at Curry’s Glace Bay Funeral Home, 775 Main Street. A celebration of his life will take place at Knox United Church on Saturday, July 11, at 11am with Kirk Neville officiating. A reception will follow. The interment will be in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
