Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Sunday, July 5, 2015, Joseph E. Thoms of Carbonear, age 79 years. Predeceased by parents: Jeremiah and Ursula, sister: Pearl Moore, sister-in-law: Betty Ethridge and Grace Sheppard, brothers-in-law: Jack Collier, Clifford Moore, Reginald Sheppard, Leslie Sheppard and Gordon Ethridge, nephew: Jim Collier; parents-in-law: Hayward and Susie Sheppard. Left to mourn with a life time of wonderful memories wife: Winnifred, one daughter: Dale (Tom) Coombs, Harbour Grace, two sons: Joseph (Debbie), Calgary, AB and Jerry (Tracy), Mount Pearl, four grandchildren: Brian (Chandell), Brad (Erika), Amelia and Sophia, one great-grandson: Kai; one sister: Jessie Collier, Port aux Basques, sisters-in-law: Mary Sheppard and Carrie Sheppard, both of Harbour Grace and Virginia (Clyde) Hillier, Mount Pearl, special nephew: Jim (Barb) Moore, Carbonear; lifelong neighbours and friends on Bennett's Hill and Masonic Brothers of Lodge #1043, Carbonear; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Rested at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear. Rev. Kenneth Penney conducted the Funeral Service on Thursday, July 9 from St. James Anglican Church, Carbonear.
