The family of the late Raymond Lavers Sr. would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to those who were present and those who extended loving hands to our family during the last year of his life here on Earth, the weeks of our father being in palliative care and the weeks that followed his departure into heaven with his family waiting for him. Raymond can be best described as a loving husband, a devoted father, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be forever in the hearts of those who loved him and whose lives that he touched in his 79 years of life.
To those who were there when we needed them the most. We called them our angels. They included Dr. Wadhwa and Patricia; whom were always a phone call away and helped guide us through letting go of our Dad. To the staff of Long Term Care (3 South) who watched over and cared for our father over the last four months of his life; especially those who were often provided new “special” names by our brother. To the staff of the ALC Unit (5th floor) WMRH who cared for dad on the first eight months away from home. Thank you to our community who extended either kindness or generosity; Colemans, CIBC Wood Gundy, Credit Union (Main Street), Hebron Commissioning Team (St. John’s) and CYFS. Finally to our friends and family who are the heart and home to our father; those who stood by us when our father was leaving this world, provided us with many meals, prayers, phone calls and letters. To all who provided acts of kindness, Dad would be so proud.
We give thanks also to Rose Joyce, Sister Kay, Andrea Hamilton-Green, Knights of Columbus, Father Hynes, Father Terry and other clergy who brought hope and comfort to Dad’s family. A special thank you to Father Terry for providing Dad with his anointing on the Wednesday before his death. We knew then that Dad accepted leaving this world, his family and felt peace in knowing his spiritual life was to come. “Father Terry isn’t this fantastic,” were the words of our father and then Dad blessed himself for his blessing. In our moments of grief, we were supported also by the staff of Country Haven Funeral Home. It will never be forgotten how you supported our brother and all of our family during the last four days of Dad’s physical self on this Earth. Your kindness shown while Dad was resting at your home, during the funeral service and support in the after care will always be remembered.
Dad will be with us always and we wait for his hand to guide us to our heavenly home.
Wife, Agnes and children Rick, Ray Jr., Marcel, Wanda, Lisa, Debbie and Kelly.
